Mission Statement

The New Jersey Shade Tree Federation is a non-profit organization that has been assisting those individuals and agencies entrusted with the selection, planting and care of trees, since 1926.

Our objective is to provide our members with the latest up-to-date information and techniques, as well as other related topics of interest and importance.

The New Jersey Shade Tree Federation accomplishes its objectives by bringing knowledgeable experts to the community and publishing informative newsletters. We welcome you to become an active member in the NJSTF.

Our office, conveniently located on the Cook College Campus of Rutgers University, may be contacted for a wide range of information and services.

Getting Involved

Odwalla Launches 3rd Annual Plant a Tree Program

Beginning May 25, visitors to www.odwalla.com/plantatree can click on one of fifty (50) State Park systems, where they would like to plant a tree, free of charge. Odwalla will double last year's donation - which went to the eleven (11) participating states - and plant 200,000 trees through the 2010 program. Tree locations will be determined by website visitor designation.

The Shade Tree Newsletter

Become a member of the NJSTF and receive our newsletter by e-mail or post mail. The topics selected for presentation at our Annual Meeting and published in our newsletter, which is printed bi-monthly (six issues per year), include timely information important to the management of municipal and park shade tree departments, commercial arboriculture and landscape firms.

RECOGNITION & AWARDS DINNER
6:00 pm - 11:00 pm

A properly selected tree, given a suitable location and proper care, will outlive the person who plants it, and will continue to benefit people for generations to come. Trees create green spaces in communities. Placing the right trees in the right places, benefits you, your home and your community now and in the future.

Greening and maintaining a community landscape is a long-term commitment that depends on people! Design-built landscapes with living trees, requires an infusion of human energy to survive. Parks and other built landscapes need people for completion.

If you have an interest in improving our environment through better tree selection and sound maintenance practices, then the New Jersey Shade Tree Federation is for you!  You may also visit our Resources page for useful publications and links to other relevant sites.
